Russ Berry joined The Matteson Companies in mid-1996, as Senior Vice President for Property Management, responsible for the daily supervision and management of all multi-family residential and commercial properties. Mr. Berry began his career in property management more than 30 years ago and received his CPM® designation (Certified Property Manager®) from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) in 1980. Mr. Berry has held senior management level positions with national as well as regional real estate management/ownership companies, including service as Regional Chief Operating Officer for GFS (one of the country's largest institutional-based property management firms). Prior to his affiliation with GFS, Mr. Berry served as Senior Vice President of Grupe Management Company and began his property management career in 1976 with Woodmont Management, Inc. (a San Francisco Peninsula-based regional management company).
Throughout his career, Mr. Berry has been very active within the real estate management industry, serving as a faculty member for the Real Estate Department of the College of San Mateo for ten years, as well as an Instructor of Continuing Education for the California Department of Real Estate. Mr. Berry is a Past President of the Tri-County Apartment Association (TCAA), and a Director of the California Apartment Association. He is a former Director of the California Housing Council (CHC), and a former Director/Vice President of the Sacramento Valley Apartment Association (SVAA). He is a graduate of Marietta College.
