PHIL CHAVEZ
Vice President and Controller
Phil Chavez is a Certified Public Accountant with 26 years of technical accounting, information technology and management experience. Mr. Chavez holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from University of California at Berkeley and an MBA in Financial Management from Golden Gate University. Phil began his career as a CPA in public accounting with Ernst & Whinney and later with Seiler & Company, a regional CPA firm specializing in real estate and partnership taxation, and Section 1031 Exchanges. At Seiler & Company, Phil had audit and tax responsibility for several real estate partnership and real estate developer clients and served in the firm's Real Estate Tax committee. Thereafter, Mr. Chavez served as CFO and Controller for a West Coast environmental firm with responsibility for all financial and treasury functions and the firm's overall budget process. Mr. Chavez joined the Matteson Companies in 2000 and presently manages day-to-day finance and accounting operations, and firm-wide IT operations. While in public accounting, Phil provided continuing professional education sponsored by the California Society of CPA's. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of CPA's.
