JAMES A. BLAKE
Executive Vice President
After admission to the California State Bar in 1981, Jim Blake began his career in real estate and business law working for the San Francisco law firm of Morrison & Foerster. He also practiced law with John Paul Hanna of Palo Alto, concentrating on common interest residential development projects, before joining The Matteson Companies in 1989.
Mr. Blake takes the lead responsibility within the Company for private capital investment acquisition and disposition activities, as well as helping initiate and oversee property financing and asset management functions in all property classes. He is centrally involved in investment and corporate structuring issues, risk management and long-term strategic planning. Mr. Blake graduated with highest honors from Vassar College and received his law degree from Yale Law School. He has also taken a highly visible role in the real estate community where he is a Past President of the Housing Industry Foundation, a Bay Area-based charitable foundation working to prevent homelessness. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of HIF.
